FAQ

When are you open?

We are a weekly market. We trade every Saturday from 9am to 3pm in the summer and 10am to 3pm in the winter. And be on the lookout for Sunday pop-up markets.

What if it rains?

Because our market is weather dependent, we'll update our website and social media every Thursday to let you know whether we're open on the weekend. So be sure to follow us on Facebook or Instagram for regular updates.

Is the market child-friendly?

There is a dedicated play area for children, including a jungle gym, swings, water feature, a large lawn and more. The Franschhoek Village Market is indemnified against any accidents, and parents are strongly advised to supervise their children at all times.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, you are welcome to bring along your furry friends, provided they are always on a leash. Please clean up after your dog.

Is there an entry fee?

No, access to the market is free of charge!

Where is the market located?

You can very easily find the market in the heart of Franschhoek, at 29 Huguenot Road. This is the main road of our beautiful town, right next to the Dutch Reformed Church, under the grand oak trees. We are very lucky to be close to all shops and restaurants in town.

And parking?

There is free on-street parking, as well as additional free parking spaces at the back of the market near the Dutch Reformed Church.

Is seating provided?

Sure thing! But be sure to come early and grab the best table. You can unfortunately not reserve tables in advance.

Is the market wheelchair friendly?

Yes of course! The market is located on level ground between the oak trees, making it easy for wheelchairs to move around between the stalls and seating area.

I am a prospective trader. How do I secure a stand?

Please visit our Apply page for more details. We take great care to curate the finest locally produced products for our visitors and the market prides itself in showcasing local, handmade, original and authentic stalls.

The team receives many requests to join the market which are all seriously considered. But due to limited space, we unfortunately can't accommodate everyone. So please be patient while we work through your application. Occasionally we do have place for casual traders.

I am a soulful musician. Can I play at the Village Market?

Our musicians play a big part in setting the mood we all love at Franschhoek Village Market. We carefully select the right musician for the right occasion. Please get in touch via email with us and send us a few demos of your tunes (e.g. Soundcloud link, CDs, etc.).

How can I stay up to date with market news/events/stories?

We have a monthly newsletter that focuses on market events, news, updates, stories and all things market-related. You can easily sign up for the newsletter here.

Do traders accept cards, or is it a cash-only market?

Our traders have many facilities available to suit you, including card machines, snapscan AND there is an ATM at the market if you wish to use cash.

What kind of stalls can I expect?

Browse and enjoy an exceptional selection of local fresh produce, delicatessens, craft beers, coffee brewers and other treats. Or shop for unique craft, art, vintage clothing and antiques – all carefully curated by us. Plus, the market changes every week with new traders, or come say hello to your old favourite faces.

Is there food available for those with special requirements, such as gluten-free and vegetarian?
